ROTHWELL PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Meeting held at Rothwell Village Hall on Tuesday 17th September 2019 at
7:30pm.
Present: S. Davey, I. Kireia, C. Dale, R. Thomas, W. Plaskitt and W. Emms.
1. APOLOGIES: None.
2) DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: None.
3) MINUTES OF MEETING OF 16th July 2018: Signed as a true record.
4) CHAIRMAN & COUNCIL’S COMMENTS: The chairman asked about various matters
discussed at the previous meeting. The clerk confirmed that Nickersons had agreed to
site the new bench and pay for it. This had been ordered and received awaiting
installation at the playing field. There has been no further update from the land agent
at Merton College other than that he will take a look at the land in question on his next
visit.. Highways have still not actioned repainting of the road markings on Hillrise and
there is now a damaged 30mph sign on Caistor Road which the clerk will report. Also
the collapsed drain has not been actioned. Discussion took place regarding
responsibility for it as LCC had claimed it was not theirs. Cllr Emms confirmed repair to
the bus shelter is in hand.
5) CLERK'S REPORT ON OUTSTANDING MATTERS: Reported in previous item.
6) FINANCE: ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT: H. Pitman: £216.56 HMRC: £43.20.
Resolved to pay. The chairman has forms to add Cllrs Dale and Thomas as signatories
and remove those who are no longer councillors.
7) PLANNING APPLICATIONS: None
8) LALC Annual Report and Clerk & Councils Direct.
9) TO FURTHER DISCUSS PURCHASE OF A VILLAGE CHRISTMAS TREE: Cllr Dale
informed council that Frontline Fencing can provide the tree and transport. The clerk
confirmed Nickersons Charitable Foundation will pay for the tree and Cllr Emms will
ascertain cost from a different supplier for a 10-12 foot tree. Blacksmiths Arms has agreed
to provide electricity but lights will need to be purchased. Costings to be sought. To discuss
