ROTHWELL PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of Parish Council Meeting held at Rothwell Village Hall on Tuesday 9th January 2024 at 7.30 p.m.

 

Present: Cllrs C. Dale, E Ellinor, V Bankes-Price, W Emms, J Raftery, M Colebrook

 

Also Present: D. Beer (Clerk) and one member of the public.

 

 

 

1.   Apologies for absence: S Davey (Cllr Dale took the chair)

 

2.   Declarations of Interest – none

 

3.   To approve minutes of the meeting held 7th November 2023. Minutes were APPROVED and duly signed as a true record.

 

4.   Chairman & Council’s comments/updates. It was noted that Cllr Smith had been active on the flooding issues, but there were still more problems with springs and water coming through roads and paths. Gas leak opposite Rothwell House had been reported – action point: clerk to contact the service provider.

 

5.   Reports from County/District Councillor - none

 

6.   Clerk's report on matters outstanding.

  • Precept estimate had been submitted.
  • Wreath for Remembrance Day had been purchased.
  • Leaves on footpaths reported, and Council operatives have visited and cleaned to everyone’s satisfaction. 
  • Prices for picnic bench and TrimTrail had been obtained and circulated

 

 

7.   Finance:  

      Accounts for payment:

Clerk’s invoice £383.97

HMRC £84.40

Refund to Chris Dale for gift to resident who cleared stream £28.25

Nickersons (Grass cutting) £1036.80

M Colebrook: Wreath for Remembrance Day £20, key cutting £5.55.

 

Precept: It was agreed that the final claim remain the same as the estimate agreed at the last meeting: £4256 

 

8.   Planning applications: None

 

9.   Correspondence: Letter from resident re parking outside village hall.

 

10.  Children’s park – clerk had updated Council on prices and options. 

It was agreed to await more information re possible funding.

 

11.  Speed sign  

a).  agree on a schedule for re-positioning and maintenance. It was suggested the unit be moved every 3 months. Cllr Colebrook agreed to attend to this. 

b).  It was Resolved to purchase a second sign.

 

12.  Other business. 

  • A discussion was had as to whether the PC could help with funding a specific project at the Village Hall. The clerk was asked to contact the committee.
  • LALC survey: the clerk agreed to fill in the survey and try to locate the original Emergency Plan.
  • A fallen tree on Wold View had been reported – Cllr Colebrook offered to remove it.
  • It was suggested a convex mirror would be useful for traffic on the corner of School Lane facing up Hill Rise. Agreed to buy if around £50 and no more than £100. Cllr Colebrook to research suppliers.

 

The meeting closed at 20.30.

 

Next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday 5 March.
