Rothwell Annual Parish Meeting
held at the Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday May 132025
Draft Minutes
Present: Cllrs S Davey, W Emms, J Raftery, M Colebrook, C Dale, Cllr Tom Smith and D Beer (Clerk to the Council)
The meeting commenced at 7.30 p.m.. The minutes of last year’s meeting were approved and signed by the Chair of the Council.
1. To receive the chairman’s report on Parish Council activities during the past year.
- A grant for a new Trim Trail for the play park was applied for.
- Volunteers from the Highways Service refurbished the bench.
- The Council donated £300 towards the purchase of Christmas tree and lights at the Blacksmith’s Arms.
- Obstructive signage at road junctions has been removed to improve safety
- A typed record of the history of the village was received from a past resident and was given to the Council for safe keeping.
2. To receive a report on current Parish Finances from the Responsible Finance Officer:
- The major expenditure for 2024/25 was the purchase of the Trim Trail exercise equipment. The cost (£8874) was 60% funded by a grant from Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service.
- Balance in current account at 1/4/25 was £2038.04
- Balance in savings account at 1/4/25 was £2055.69
- Receipts at the start of the new financial year: £193.20 (VAT refund) and £4256.00 (precept)
- In addition a CIL of £1649.82 has just been received
- Total available to spend for 24/25: £10192.75
- Regular expenditure for 25/26 is expected to be under £3500.
3. Open meeting.
A ramp for the village hall access was discussed and the price is more than expected at £38,000. The Village Hall committee is to discuss this at tomorrow night’s meeting. Another option would be to create some parking spaces by improving access to the playground and this would enable disabled visitors to have level access to the hall.
